Job summary

This position provides an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and creative nurse to lead on delivering the safeguarding agenda for Children and Young People within Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder must demonstrate an in-depth and specialist understanding of safeguarding processes and how mental ill health, substance use and domestic violence and abuse can contribute to families having early help requirements and other safeguarding concerns.

The post holder will need to be able to demonstrate an extensive understanding of adult mental health and how mental health provider services operate - managerial experience would be beneficial. This is to ensure they can adequately interpret and respond to safeguarding requirements on behalf of children and young people in the context of an adult mental health service provision.

Main duties of the job

The post holder must also be knowledgeable about child and adolescent mental health issues in order to support services within the trust that work with children and young people.

The post holder will be expected to represent the Trust at specific strategic multi-agency meetings as well as bring specialist mental health perspective in contact with all agency partners.

Training experience would be an advantage as development and delivery of training will be a component of the role.

The post holder will be expected to deputise for the Head of Safeguarding as required. They will also be expected to deputise for the Safeguarding Named Nurse for Domestic Abuse and the Safeguarding Adult Lead as and when required.

The post holder will need excellent communication and organisational skills and will need to work autonomously setting their own work agenda in line with agreed objectives.
