We invite applications from enthusiastic, resilient and innovative professionals to join our expanding team to the role of a Specialist Psychological Practitioner. This role is well suited to professionals who may already be working in the mental health or education sector, who have experience of delivering psychological interventions and are keen to develop their knowledge and skill in this area.

We have vacancies in the following areas:

  • Women's Secure Blended Service at Ardenleigh - a secure inpatient service for women focusing on providing gender sensitive, trauma informed care.
  • Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR)- The MHTR programme provides evidence-based mental health treatment to individuals sentenced to a community court order and provides an alternative to short custodial sentences.

A core part of these roles will be to work alongside colleagues from a range of disciplines sharing psychological knowledge and improving the psychological mindedness of the service. We are looking for people from a range of diverse backgrounds with an interest in working with, supporting and enhancing the lives of people who have experienced adverse life experiences, including trauma and neglect, and have a history of offending behaviour

Main duties of the job

Post holders will assist in delivering a range of individual and group interventions addressing emotional, behavioural and relational factors in order to improve service users' recovery and wellbeing, and potentially working with families. They will support the assessment, formulation & delivery of interventions to address the complexities experienced by service users. They will contribute to the production of risk assessments and inpatient behavioural management plans and provide psychological informed advice and support for those involved in the care of the individual. They would also support training, supervision and evaluation of a range of psychological interventions, risk management activity and service user involvement. The post holders should have some experience in providing support or supervision to a staff group and be able to identify and need for systemic support.

We are looking for people with diverse lived experiences outside of core psychology professions to help vary our delivery of psychological interventions who are interested in working with people who have complex presentations, encompassing risk, personality difficulties and mental health. We hope there can be mutual learning and development, where you will be offered individual and group supervision, training to help you develop core skills and a team where laughter is balanced with hard work. The roles are challenging but are made easier by the supportive team ethos we hold.
