Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to join us within our Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Team within the Sandwell and West Birmingham locality. This vacancy is for a full time permanent post.

The Perinatal team offers support to women experiencing moderate to severe mental illness during the perinatal period (through pregnancy to 12 months post natal). In addition to this service there is an existing inpatient Mother & Baby Unit located in the Barberry, National Centre for Mental Health. We also work alongside our local maternity services within antenatal mental health liaison clinics.

The successful applicant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering care to women in a range of community settings as well as the local maternity unit. The ability to work flexibly in multidisciplinary teams and in a range of settings is therefore essential.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be highly motivated professionals, with significant experience in mental health care. Experience of working within perinatal mental health is not a requirement as specialist training and shadowing experience will be provided.
