Job summary

We are seeking to appoint dynamic Band 5 Community Psychiatric Nurses to work in the South West Birmingham Team in The Oleaster

South West Home Treatment provides an intensive service to individuals aged 25 and above who are experiencing a crisis with their mental health. We work within an MDT and are a fast paced and busy team.

You can expect to achieve / build upon skills of working in a pressured environment, responding and managing to crises and delivering short term interventions to an interesting and varied client group.The successful candidates should be highly motivated individuals, patient centred in their approach to care and ideally have experience of working in an acute or community setting.

Main duties of the job

Team members will be working a shift system over 7 days. The current shift pattern is 08:00-16:00 (Early), 13:00-21:00 (Late) and 08:00 - 21:00 (Long Day). Team members can also be expected to be rotated on above duties as/when required.

To coordinate and provide specialist acute crisis psychiatric interventions and expertise to service users in crisis 24 hrs per day 7 days per week 52 weeks per year within their own home / residence.

Provide a gate keeping service to the in-patient wards. To facilitate early discharge and provide an effective and viable alternative to hospital admission for clients in crisis by developing an individualised approach to the practical and functional needs of the service user.

To provide specialist crisis resolution support and advice to other agencies and members of the multidisciplinary team.

To act as a role model and resource for junior/less experienced staff and students.
