Assertive Outreach Occupational Therapist / Nurse

East Birmingham Assertive Outreach Team have a vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational therapist or a Community Psychiatric Nurse at band 6, to join our multidisciplinary team.

The Team provides intensive recovery directed support to service users who present with complex, severe, and enduring mental health needs.

The successful candidate will have a special interest in the assessment and management of risk as well as enjoy the potential of working in a small cohesive team.

The successful candidate - if an Occupational Therapist - will carry a reduced care coordinator caseload as well as offering specific Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to individual service users.

The successful candidate - if a Community Psychiatric Nurse - will carry a care coordinator caseload.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with service users and colleagues, adopting a creative and problem solving approach to working practice, they will need to be flexible, energetic, have a positive attitude and demonstrate an ability to work autonomously at times.

Main duties of the job

You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, demonstrate competent risk assessment and risk management skills and have a genuine interest in working with service users with severe and enduring mental health issues, and their carers'.You will need to demonstrate a commitment to achieving the highest standards of care whilst utilising the care program approach framework and displaying your ability to work autonomously as well as being an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team. The post involves working within a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on the recovery model and interfacing with partner services and stakeholders, within a team focus.In return we can offer a friendly and supportive multi disciplinary environment in which to develop through training opportunities, regular individual and group supervision and a supportive team ethos.
