Job summary

This is an exciting time for Occupational Therapy service with vacancies at Tamarind and Reaside and the successful candidate will be joining a busy team, working in a medium secure male forensic service. We are in the process of implementing new theoretical models of care to support our existing programmes. The service is committed to the development of research, with opportunities to participate. The post holders will utilise their professional skills and creativity to develop therapeutic programmes of care for the individuals within residential units, therapy centre and community across the whole care pathway.

The successful candidate will be expected to work in a challenging and dynamic environment, but will be supported throughout their career and will be provided with a comprehensive induction, and on-going support and training. Supervision and management will be provided by the Lead OT and Senior OT team. An annual development review process is in place to support CPD.

These is onsite parking.

Main duties of the job

The service users we care for often have very complex mental health needs, and at times may display very challenging behaviour. Therefore, staff will be required to demonstrate a range of skills including effective communication, empathy, self-awareness, and critical self-reflection skills. The individual would need to have the ability to manage their own reactions and responses to challenging behaviours effectively. You will be able to promote the philosophy of Occupational Therapy and evaluate the outcomes of the service.

  • To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a range of settings.
  • To maintain clinical records.
  • To develop post graduate skills and knowledge through participation in the preceptorship programme.
  • To support a recovery focussed care pathway
