This job is now closed

Job summary

A rare secondment post has become available in the Trust's Spiritual Care Team, and we are looking for a committed female Muslim to join us to cover maternity leave. The primary purpose of this part-time post is to support the Trust in meeting the needs of our female Muslim service users within our in-patient services.

Applications are invited from practising Muslim women who can provide evidence of specialist spiritual care / chaplaincy training and support from their faith community. Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (mental health and/or faith), you will be expected to have extensive knowledge and understanding of your own faith practices and an appreciation and respect for those of other faiths or none. You will have highly developed pastoral skills and be able to show how you have applied these in working with those experiencing mental illness in a healthcare setting.

Candidates with additional language skills and/or lived experience of mental health issues are particularly welcome. Your application will evidence how you meet all the requirements of the person specification especially where these are not part of your primary qualification and/or professional experience.

Due to the nature of the role, the requirements of this post specifically require the post-holder to be female and a practicing Muslim, [section 159 and Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010 applies, details available on request].

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the provision of spiritual care to service users, families and carers and staff of BSMHFT, with a particular focus on the needs of Muslim women as well as those who do not identify with any specific faith or belief group.
