Job summary
Three exciting opportunities have arisen for enthusiastic and motivated assistant psychologists to join Assertive Outreach, the Intensive Community Rehabilitation Team (ICRT) and Steps to Recovery services in Birmingham and Solihull.
Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has 6 Assertive Outreach Teams (AOTs). Steps to Recovery services consists of seven rehabilitation units. The ICRT is a new team offering rehabilitation within service users' homes. One post is a six-month fixed term post, based with Central and North AOTs. The second post is a six-month fixed term post based at two complex care units, and the third post is a 24-month fixed term post within ICRT. The post holders will join specialist multidisciplinary teams providing intensive, flexible, and holistic support to people with complex psychosis or bipolar disorder. They will be warmly welcomed into a well-established and supportive team of psychologists working across ICCR.
The post holders will be working under the supervision of a clinical psychologist and will receive regular clinical supervision and have access to peer support through the Assistant Psychologists Group and assistant psychologist reflective practice groups. There is a comprehensive CPD training programme.
We welcome applications from individuals with an upper second-class psychology degree who are eligible for graduate membership of the BPS and who are interested in pursuing a career in clinical or counselling psychology.
Main duties of the job
Within our Assertive Outreach Teams and Rehabilitation Services, we use a well coordinated, team-based approach. The successful applicant will be assisting with the delivery and evaluation of psychological services to service users and families within the teams. This will include working with individuals, providing structured low-intensity psychological interventions under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, as well as supporting clinical psychologists in the provision of more complex assessments and therapeutic interventions for individuals, families, and groups. There may be the opportunity to contribute to interventions with teams, comprehensive psychological assessments through the administration and scoring of questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and psychometric assessments. There will be opportunities to assist with the development and delivery of teaching and training packages to other staff groups and the honorary assistant psychologist group.
The post holder will work in conjunction with team members from other disciplines and contribute to multi-disciplinary discussions and meetings. The post holder will participate in the collection, analysis, and presentation of data for other audit and service evaluation projects within the teams.
