An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Communication Lead to join the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme. The role of Communication Lead will be pivotal in supporting senior leads across Birmingham and Solihull (BSOL) deliver a revolutionary programme of change. Working within Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and with Partners Forward Thinking Birmingham (part of the Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital) the individual will work to engage with our key partners and stakeholders including service users in the delivery of a strategic communication and engagement plan to support the implementation of the overall Community Mental Health Transformation Programme. The individual will work closely with Project Leads and stakeholder as part or a programme team to lead on all aspects of communication, marketing and engagement.
This is a FTC position for 18months
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work directly to the programme lead and work alongside the programme SRO;s in delivering a comprehensive Communications, Marketing and Engagement plan.
As a senior member of the programme team, the post holder will be required to develop links with all stakeholders ensuring that communication and marketing plans support and enhance the delivery of the programme and ensure strong links with stakeholders across BSol.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, which inspire, motivate and influence colleagues at all levels win hearts and minds and have the drive and determination to succeed and innovate in an ever changing environment. They will be required to deliver to tight deadlines as well as understand some of the sensitivities in relation to the information that they manage and communicate as part of working at scale.

- First degree or equivalent in media studies, public relations, journalism, marketing or related subject.
- Considerable senior experience in marketing / communications / public relations work.
- Proven ability in developing and implementing effective communication strategies.
- A high level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact, persuade and influence effectively across the healthcare economy at director level and throughout different functions and disciplines at all levels.
- Able to work effectively under high levels of pressure and manage the pressures exerted on the corporate communication department. To deliver within tight timescales and manage competing pressures from different organisational functions.
- Is able to influence and lead on internal and external communications of a highly sensitive and/or contentious nature where applicable.
- Create the operational framework for the strategic direction of media and public relations and marketing activity on behalf of the Trust, setting out clear long term business plans.
- Experience of using design programmes including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Canva.
