We offer a tailored programme of cpd and other developmental opportunities to support your progression and career development.

We have several posts available in in-patient and community mental health teams which could be offered part-time or combined, offering flexibility in working hours and the focus of work. Please get in touch with us to discuss our vacancies and the opportunities within the service.

About us

We can help you develop areas of expertise and specialism in the areas of psychological therapies for older people , dementia assessment and interventions or leadership across a range of specialist teams or contexts. Post graduate cpd opportunities are available particularly in the area of older people's mental health, complex emotional needs/ personality disorder, psychosis and bipolar disorder, and we organise several cpd and reflective events throughout the year. We support placements from the local Doctorate, Masters and Undergraduate Psychology training courses and contribute to the teaching provided there. Newly qualified appointees at Band 7 will be given appropriate support to allow them to fully meet the requirements of the Band 8a role within an 18 month - 3 year period.

You will be joining a friendly and supportive service. Covid proved challenging but psychologists have often provided valued support to colleagues within our service area. We have excellent relationships with our clinical and managerial colleagues within the Division and the Trust. There is also opportunity to contribute to the optional, paid psychology on-call rota (for those at Band 8a and above). BSMHFT are committed to reducing health inequalities and to challenging and eradicating discrimination for our workforce.
