Job summary

We are looking for an experienced therapist who had an interest in service development and can help us plan the SLT workforce for the future. Ideally you will have some lived or work experience/ understanding of mental health conditions - but this is not essential as we can offer a comprehensive induction.

There is a important clinical role in the management and education of dysphagia, in addition to communication assessment and interventions.

The SLT service is supported by a strong AHP workforce and leadership at all levels. We can support individual professional and career development. We also pride ourselves on a fully flexible working approach with superb IT systems to enable remote and agile working.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to service users who have a variety of complex speech, language, communication; and eating, drinking and swallowing needs; with diverse presentations and a range of mental health conditions, cognition and/or learning disabilities in order to facilitate optimum communication and safe nutrition and hydration.
  • The post holder will work as a member of the MDT to ensure that high-quality; individualised care is delivered ensuring safely, promoting recovery and maximising independence for service users.
  • To provide professional supervision and line management to SLT staff as delegated, including annual appraisal and professional development.
  • To promote and develop the SLT service within the organisation to improve quality, safety and experience.
