An exciting opportunity has arisen in HMP Birmingham Healthcare for a Band 5 Staff Nurse in Birmingham Recovery Team formerly the IDTS team.

BRT aims to increase the volume and care and quality of treatment available to prisoners that are assessed as requiring treatment for drugs and alcohol misuse, with particular emphasis on early custody.

IDTS is within BSMHFT one of the largest Mental Health foundation trusts in the UK.

Main duties of the job

We also link very closely to all other healthcare departments within the prison and focus on multi-disciplinary team working including Dual Diagnosis with close links to the MH team/psychosocial team and community drug and alcohol teams including COMPASS.The successful applicant will be an RMN or RGN or RNLD and have an interest in nursing within a 24 hour custodial setting and a drive to deliver the highest standards of care to an often vulnerable group of individuals.If successful you will have opportunity to develop a range of skills focussing on patient care-plans; pathways to recovery from Substance Misuse and effective individual and group interventions. We actively encourage fresh ideas and development for all, and the training and development opportunities are available to all along with regular supervision, PDR / Appraisals and induction / support on commencing in post.
