Job summary

Secondment Opportunity as an Assistant Psychologist.

Creating a more Representative Workforce in Clinical Psychology

Are you looking for an opportunity to work as an assistant psychologist? We have funding to support several secondments for individuals who have a 2:1 psychology degree and are from underrepresented backgrounds in clinical psychology to undertake a paid placement as an assistant psychologist within the trust (band 4).

HEE has funded this opportunity specifically to enable the clinical psychology workforce to become more inclusive. Currently under-represented groups include those from a BAME background, those who have caring responsibilities, have a disability and or come from a low income socio-economic background. We recognise that not being able to take unpaid occupational experiences can further disadvantage people from achieving their first posts in a psychological professions career. Positive action (being used in this recruitment) isthe deliberate introduction of measures to eliminate or reduce discrimination or its 'effects'.It is about encouraging people from particular, demonstrably under-represented, groups to apply for jobs.

Main duties of the job

The Paid Experiences posts will involve working to a psychology assistant job description in a service placement for a minimum of 3 months (full or part time). In addition, you will have opportunities for career mentoring and development such as support with the recruitment process and reflecting on your experiences in a way that is relevant to the practice of clinical psychology. Confirmed placements presently include the perinatal service, deaf mental health care, crisis resolution and home treatment services, Solar, and the enhanced pathway for personality disorders service.
