Job summary
An exciting opportunity is available for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist within Solar.
Successful applicants will hold an OT caseload and will also offer specific Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to children and young people. As a team, we are looking to improve the way we provide interventions and to develop collaborative formulations to plan and direct our input. Applicants should have significant experience of working post qualification in mental health services.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with individuals, adopting a creative and problem-solving approach to working practice. You will need to be flexible, energetic, have a positive attitude and demonstrate an ability to work autonomously.
The team is looking for someone committed to multi-disciplinary and partnership working, and who can establish good networks with our Recovery College and other voluntary, statutory and independent agencies.
Main duties of the job
- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team across the age range delivering evidence based occupational therapy interventions/assessments.
- To be able to adapt approaches to meet the needs of the client group.
- To carry out specialist assessments around the needs for those referred to Solar to support their participation in self-care, ADL's, school/work(dependant on age) and play/leisure activities.
- To work as a designated caseload across the SOLAR service and to provide support to to clinicians around possible interactions.
- To use Occupational Therapy clinical reasoning to analyse and interpret complex assessment findings from both standardised and non-standardised assessments
- To accurately assess the impact of the environment (physical, social, sensory, emotional and cultural) on a child/young person's occupational performance. This will require travelling between locations in a timely manner to see people in the most appropriate setting according to their needs
- To work with the service users to identify OT goals as part of their overall care plan.
- To use information gathered to formulate individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning and activity analysis/grading in collaboration with the person, their family and other professionals both internally and external.
