Job summary

Solar, rated 'Good' by the CQC and published in the Journal of Early Intervention in Psychiatry, is a partnership between Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Barnardo's and Autism West Midlands and provides Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Services to Children, Young People and Families in Solihull.

Solar was set up as a service not about thresholds or tiers but about timely access to appropriate support in line with children and young people's needs. Solar aims to create a comprehensive system, designed around the needs of children and young people, which keeps children and young people healthy as well as treating those that are ill and prioritises resilience, partnership and co-production.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will hold an OT caseload and will also offer specific Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to children and young people . As a team, we are looking to improve the way we provide interventions and to develop collaborative formulations to plan and direct our input. Applicants should have significant experience of working post qualification in mental health services.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with individuals, adopting a creative and problem solving approach to working practice. You will need to be flexible, energetic, have a positive attitude and demonstrate an ability to work autonomously.

The team is looking for someone committed to multi-disciplinary and partnership working, and who can establish good networks with our Recovery College and other voluntary, statutory and independent agencies.
