Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the BSMHFT's learning and development department in the role of AVERTS consultant. The AVERTS team lead on the Prevention and Management of Violence training and support the Trusts Reducing Restrictive Practice agenda. The post holder should be a registered healthcare professional who has an interest in the reduction of restrictive practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for having oversight of the AVERTS training, provide leadership and support the AVERTS training team and provide advice and guidance to clinical areas regarding the safer management of challenging behaviour and the reduction of restrictive interventions inline with the Trusts core values. The post holder will work alongside fellow AVERTS consultants in the implementation and embedding of RRP initiatives including Safe wards, the development of bespoke training and will be involved in innovative practice for the reduction of RRP as well as supporting the implementation of relevant QI projects.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the other members of the AVERTS team to;

  • Provide specialist advice and consultancy around the prevention and management of violence and aggression and the reduction of restrictive practices for the Trust.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with clinical services and the wider Learning and Development team.
  • Will make regular visits to clinical services to assist in the implementation of violence reduction initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver bespoke training as determined by the individual needs of the clinical area.
  • Provide support and leadership to other members of the AVERTS team and will assist in the planning of training to meet the Trusts compliance targets.
  • Monitor, respond and report on Eclipse entries that are commensurate to the role.
  • Work alongside ANP AVERTS, lead nurses and the wider Reducing Restrictive Practice steering group to deliver on RRP initiatives for clinical areas.
  • Will attend relevant meetings commensurate with their role and band and divisional requirements.
