Secure CAMHS (medium secure and low secure); Secure Care
1.0 WTE 8A PERMANENT PRACTITIONER PSYCHOLOGIST
A rare and exciting vacancy has arisen in our award winning Secure CAMHS team for a psychologist who is passionate about working with complex young people.
We have an incredible national reputation, with accreditations from QNIC and the National Autistic Society. In our 2021 NHSE review, we received glowing feedback from young people, families and commissioners about the care we provide, our passion for the young people and support we provide to staff.
Secure CAMHS has three inpatient wards (2 medium mixed-gender secure wards and 1 female low secure ward) with a capacity for 16 young people, aged 12 - 18. We are part of the bigger Secure Care and Offender Health directorate, which affords us a wealth of opportunities and expertise.
As a psychologist in the team, there is access to weekly group supervision for the team, monthly model-specific group supervision from an external expert (e.g. CBT, EMDR, CFT, CAT) and monthly CPD slots. We are part of a wider psychology team of over 70 staff with continued support and progression offered within this network. We support our psychologists to access training and CPD, both in-house and externally. We are committed to supporting all of our staff to have a positive experience of their time at work and further their careers.
Main duties of the job
We have 3 wards (2 Medium and 1 Low secure) with capacity for 16 young people aged 12-18. A team psychologist is responsible for overseeing the psychological care pathways for our young people, who present with a range of complex mental health and risk needs (e.g. trauma, personality difficulties, neurodevelopmental difficulties, harm to themselves and others). This is a highly rewarding job for psychologists who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged teenagers.
We work collaboratively as an MDT in a way that is informed by the trauma, attachment and neurodevelopmental experiences of service users. We place great emphasis on keeping our service users at the center of our decision making whilst ensuring that our staff group has a robust support system in place. A Psychologist in our service plays a pivotal role in promoting and maintaining the positive therapeutic mileu of the service so that both staff and service users have a positive experience here.
