Job summary

Band 5 Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 fixed term 12 months occupational therapist to join our in patient services working within the Rosemary ward at the Juniper Centre. This unit provides acute assessment and interventions to women over 65 years of age who have a mental illness diagnosis.

The post holder will be required to undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments using a number of standardised tools from the model of human occupation. The occupational therapist will be required to apply formulation skills, set appropriate goals and work together with the service user, family and staff in achieving these goals by application of appropriate interventions.

Supervision will be provided by the Lead Occupational Therapist for inpatient services.

The Dementia and Frailty Service Area values the role of occupational therapy within its teams and promotes regular managerial, professional and clinical supervision. There are also training opportunities within the Trust and support of continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/person-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a range of settings.
  • To maintain clinical standards and good information governance.
  • To develop skills and knowledge through participation in the preceptorship training, if appropriate.
  • To provide supervision to occupational therapy assistant.
