Job summary

Exciting opportunities for Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses have risen in our Rehabilitation Ward (Tourmaline at Ardenleigh). Applicants must be NMC Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses and able to work in a challenging, dynamic and recovery focused environment.

We are currently seeking to recruit highly motivated, hardworking and compassionate staff nurses with passion for Rehabilitation and skills development with patients in preparation for their discharge.

Tourmaline Ward is part of theBlended SecureService for Women at Ardenleigh . We provide care for people women who are experiencing a range of complex mental illness within a rehabilitation environment. We work in collaboration with Anawim and the FRIST team in supporting the Rehabilitation and Discharge Pathway of our service users. Nurses on Tourmaline work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in line with the Learning for Living Framework and the SCALE Model.

You will need to demonstrate a range of skills including effective communication, empathy, self-awareness, and clinical skills, an understanding of the Mental Health Act, boundaries, and flexibility in approach, risk assessment, compassion and critical self-reflection within a least restrictive environment.

Main duties of the job

Our Nurses provide a dynamic, pro-active and recovery focused ward aimed at providing a good quality of care in a safe and comfortable environment for our services users. We provide this service within the framework of the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety outlined by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Our nurses are expected to embed the principles of Trauma Informed Care in managing therapeutic relationships with our services users. On Tourmaline, weactively encourage service user led interventions and promote active service user involvement in managing the ward environment and care delivery.

We work on a foundation of compassion, inclusion and commitment in the application of our nursing skills and experience in supporting our service users through their recovery journey(s) whilst working towards their safe discharge back to the community.

In return, we will offer you a 6 months Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified nurses, Practice assessor and supervision training, regular management and clinical supervision, continues professional development and a supportive team to nurture your skills and talent. You will also be a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team working in collaboration with our service users, their families, and other professionals, internal and external agencies. Our nurses are supported by active management presence on the ward/ site and support from other disciplines within the MDT.
