Job summary
Job Purpose: Birmingham has a decades-long tradition of solid academic and teaching excellence in psychiatry. The opening of the new medical school at Aston University, and their very first cohort of undergraduate placements in psychiatry from September 2021 has brought a renewed drive and dynamism to the Academy and desire to introduce innovative teaching methods at undergraduate level across both universities.
BSMHFT is delighted to announce that we are in a position to recruit three full-time Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTF) to support the development and delivery of teaching to Aston and Birmingham medical students during their 4th year psychiatry placements. In the coming year, the Academic Department will be supporting around 500 student medical student placements, 60 at the new Aston Medical School, and the remainder at Birmingham Medical School. This is a one-year renewable post.

These posts have been specifically designed to support the undergraduate Psychiatry Teaching Academy in Birmingham in becoming a centre of teaching excellence. The posts are also designed to nurture junior clinical staff to develop their teaching skills and progress along a clinical academic and teaching route in psychiatry should they wish.
