Job summary
To work as part of a small team providing administrative andcashiering support within the General Office. Be able to prioritiseyour own workload, as there are occasions when you will have nodirect supervision.
The role includes providing an accurate and effective cashieringservice for the Trust and dealing with a range of other General Officefunctions including bleeps, telecoms, post, car parking,accommodation and ambulance patient transport.
The post holder is required to liaise and co-ordinate with colleaguesand external contacts to facilitate the smooth running of supportservices across the sites.
Main duties of the job
- Act as part of the General Office team ensuring systems concerning accounts, collection and the banking of income are operated in compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions.This includes banking monies to ensure the relevant timescales are adhered to and, thatadequate funds are available for petty cash payment.o The safe keeping of patients' property and monies, including monthly reviews of the patient property, liaising with patients, patients'relatives, wards and departments where appropriate.o Re-imbursements of petty cash to staff and payment of patient travel expenses in accordance with the NHS Hospital Travel CostsScheme.o Provide support to General Office services including, ordering stocks and supplies and, maintenance of the photocopying machine.o Franking and recording of mail, including monitoring of postal funds, franking machine maintenance and, ordering consumables andreporting faults.o Arranging and recording bleep repairs and checking invoices.o Assist with the administration of car parking and site security including, updating details on the car park databases and the pay on footsystem, liaison with car park patrol staff, providing and, dealing with general enquiries and complaints.
Anyone newly appointed to the Trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
