Job summary
We are looking at recruiting a Catering Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring food quality and hygiene standards, managing staff, ensuring that the departmental procedures/policy's are followed They also need to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery to customers.
Main duties of the job
Supervising Kitchen staff, ensuring food is served correctly, and managing the smooth flow of the catering service, portion control,
Completion of audit forms associated with food safety, & procedures.
Serving food to patient's at ward level, having a good knowledge of special dietary requirement's and knowledge of Allergens
Supervising and training staff, assigning tasks and evaluating performance
Ensuring a positive and efficient experience for our service users
Involved in erostering of staff and ensuring adequate cover is available for a smooth running of the service
Managing sickness and holiday cover
About us
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

- GCSE English and Maths, grade C or above or grade 9-4 or equivalent qualification in English and Maths.
- Foundation Hygiene Certificate.
- Previous supervisory experience
- Leadership skills/motivation
- Working knowledge of HACCP and COSHH systems.
Desirable
- Intermediate Food Hygiene.
- NVQ Level 3 Supervisory Management.
- Able to communicate within a team and provide diverse feedback to colleagues and line managers
