We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a part time band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Integrated Stroke & Neuro Rehabilitation Therapy Team.We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with a special interest to work in the field of stroke & neuro rehabilitation. The roll will include working 1 day per week in the Acute Stroke Pathway at Royal Blackburn Hospital and 3 days per week working in the Neuro Rehabilitation Pathway at Rakehead Rehab Unit.
The successful candidate will be a HCPC registered Physiotherapist with sound knowledge and experience of specialist neurological assessment and treatment procedures for this client group. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required together with good organisational and time management skills. Flexibility in working patterns to meet the needs of the service is essential. You will be required to support the physiotherapy service in clinical and service development projects, alongside working under pressure managing your clinical caseload.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing clinical care to a defined caseload of stroke & neuro patients in acute stroke and inpatient neuro rehab. The position will require you to complete highly specialised assessment, planning and intervention skills working as an autonomous practitioner in a variety of clinical settings.
As part of the assessment process, you may be required to select and apply appropriate evidence-based assessment tools and outcome measures to identify clinical benefit within practice, treatment planning and intervention. You will also be expected to formulate patient centred goals along with individualised management and treatment plans, where appropriate, including effective discharge planning and onward referrals to community agencies.
As the stroke/ neuro physiotherapist you will be expected to use a variety of evidence-based interventions to a specialist level according to the needs of the individual patient to ensure we drive high quality, effective and efficient care. Within clinical practice you will provide comprehensive risk assessment and clinical/ governance reports outlining clinical findings.
Part of the role may require you to work flexibly to support other areas of the pathway in times of clinical pressure such as community and outpatient stroke & neuro rehab settings.

All our therapy teams are integrated therefore flexibility working on both inpatients and in community is essential. Our integrated therapy team has a strong link with UCLAN employing an AHP Professor in neurorehabilitation and stroke as such we are actively involved in a variety of research projects.
We have a robust supervision and annual appraisal structure along with offering in house training to support the clinical development of our staff.

In the absence of the senior clinician, supervise, educate, and assess the performance of physiotherapy students and junior staff; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
Undertake evidence-based audit and contribute to research projects to further own and teams clinical practice. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for improvement to practice by the team. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols as agreed with the team leader.
