Job summary
Due to the increased activity seen within the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Department funding has now been identified to support the further development of the service over the next 12 months. Applications are now invited from suitably qualified Assistant Practitioners who wish to expand and consolidate their clinical and theoretical skill base in Occupational Health to support the service and the Trusts Health and Wellbeing strategy. You will have completed your Foundation Degree in Science Health and Social Care as an Assistant Practitioner and have experience of working as an Assistant Practitioner and be able to provide progressive evidence of CPD. You should possess a genuine passion and interest in this area of work as it involves assessment and management of employees who are experiencing problems as a result of work related issues and you will be committed to specialising in this field.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within a team of occupational health professionals in a supporting role, providing needs based occupational health services to all clients in line with good practice and current legislation.
This will include undertaking work health assessments and assessments for spirometry, audiometry, vision, hand arm vibration and venepuncture as part of on-going health surveillance programmes. Additionally they will assist Occupational Health clinicians with periodic medicals by undertaking basic health measurements.
Training will be given for all aspects of the role to work within certain parameters, and supervision and support provided for data interpretation and follow up.
The post holder will be expected to work unsupervised at times both in the department and at company premises, delivering high standard occupational health services to clients allocated to their care.
