Job summary

An exciting vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to join Revive; a specialist Emotional Health and well-being Team, a collaboration between ELCAS and the Blackburn with Darwen local authority. The team, led by a clinical psychologist currently comprises mental health practitioners, play therapist and 2 clinical psychologists.

Revive work directly and indirectly with children, young people and families in the care of the local authority, as well as supporting families subject to child in need or child protection plans. Revive also provide regular indirect work to systems supporting young people and families, including consultations, supervision, training and reflective practice.

The East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service is a specialist service consisting of Child Psychiatrists, mental health practitioners, specialist therapists and clinical psychologists who provide a range of evidence based interventions for children with mental health difficulties and their families. The Service has good links with local universities to which it regularly provides clinical placements to practitioners in training. It has recently been rated Outstanding by the CQC.

This Vacancy is Part time - 30 hours

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, hardworking, have excellent relational and interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to working with this client group. They will be responsible for ensuring that they achieve the key objectives of delivering safe, personal and effective Emotional Health and Well Being for this specialist group within Blackburn with Darwen.

In addition to direct assessment and intervention with young people and families, the post-holder will support multidisciplinary professionals, having the opportunities to deliver training and where applicable, supervision. It is also an exciting time for Revive as we continue to develop the service, expanding the use of outcome measures and reviewing service delivery. There are training opportunities coming up in the team and CPD is encouraged and supported.

You will be a dynamic and forward thinking person who is prepared to meet the challenges of a changing service, whilst working with a variety of stakeholders and interfacing services. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously whilst being part of a highly supportive and close team.

About us

Supervision requirements are acknowledged and supported by East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and these will be negotiated with the successful candidate in order to meet local and professional need.

The service operates from a variety of sites across East Lancashire for which some travel will be required but the main administrative base is Blackburn with Darwen Children's Services, based at Duke Street, in Blackburn.

Car owner/driver essential.

This post is advertised as a band 8a but we would also welcome newly qualified applicants with whom we would offer a preceptorship, starting at a band 7 but with targets to progress to an 8a within 2 years. We would also welcome interest from applicants who are third year trainee psychologists and above, yet to complete their DClinPsy qualification. There may be opportunity to join the team as band 6 progressing to the preceptorship pathway upon qualification for the right candidate.

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or equivalent) as accredited by the BPS/HCPC, including specifically models of psychopathology. Skilled with administering, scoring and interpreting clinical psychometrics.
  • Proficiency in using two or more distinct psychological therapies and extensive knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology
  • Significant experience at similar grade working flexibility

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields or applied psychology
  • Experience as a psychologist.
