Job summary

Are you a NMC/HCPC registered healthcare professional.

An exciting fixed term/secondment opportunity has arisen to join an established and dynamic Resuscitation team as a Band 6 Resuscitation Trainer. The successful candidate will be committed, dedicated, and self-motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will ideally have experience in teaching and managing medical emergencies.

The post holder will be required to provide appropriate and effective resuscitation training to all grades and disciplines of staff throughout East Lancashire Hopitals NHS Trusts and in line with the current Service Level Agreement.

The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with the Lead Resuscitation Trainer, to support the Clinical Education Team in their training capability and capacity to deliver resuscitation training not only in the classroom setting but across wards and departments covering a wide range of clinical areas. You will attend cardiac arrests and advise on all issues regarding Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation e.g. following critical incidents/near misses, maintain emergency devices and equipment, audit, measure and implement new initiatives/change, in order to maintain and continually improve the quality of service to patients.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be supported to complete further Resuscitation courses and to undertake Instructor training if not already an established instructor.

Applications are welcome from professionals with a recognised statutory qualification. You will have experience working in acute or critical health care and have a keen interest in education and in Resuscitation. The role will require attendance at all five of our main hospital sites and community settings. You must be flexible, as although your normal working hours will be over a five day week Monday to Friday, you may be required to work during the evening and weekends on occasion as required.

  • Assist in the delivery of a Trust-wide resuscitation training programme
  • Develop and deliver Resuscitation, Clinical Skills and Simulation training (Adult & Paediatric) to all Trust staff and students in line with regional, national & European guidelines
  • Maintain systems to ensure resuscitation equipment is ready for use in conjunction with the heads of service and lead practitioners
  • Have an understanding of emotional intelligence and human factors and its impact within the health care setting: patients, clinicians, service providers and the wider team
  • Co-ordinate and deliver ILS, PILS and AIMs courses across the Trust
  • Assist with the collection of cardiac arrest/peri arrest data and enter onto appropriate electronic database
  • Assist with any audit projects conducted across the Trust in relation to resuscitation
  • Assist with investigating incident report forms providing specialist advice and any further action to be taken. Collate common themes in relation to cardiac arrest data to report into Deteriorating Patient Steering Group (DPSG) via quarterly report
  • Provide advice and support with regard to resuscitation to clinical areas throughout the Trust
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners on their performance during their practice and assessment during life support courses
