Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of expert clinical Lymphoedema assessment, planning of care management, and the provision of care including maintenance and intensive therapies. Working across professional and organisational boundaries, skills will focus on direct clinical care and the supervision / development of other health care professionals with the aim of maintaining patients in their own homes, reducing hospital admission, promoting and enabling patients to enjoy maximum independence and optimum of life.
Main duties of the job
Assessment of patients with Lymphoedema and chronic oedema within both the clinic and domicillary setting.
Planning individual care programmes.
Compression therapy - prescribe garments, apply multi- layer bandaging, wrap systems.
Application of equipment to assist with management of condition ( Lympha touch, Hivermatt).
Kinesio taping
Simple and Mannual Lymphatic drainage massage
Provide advice, education and support to promote self-management in a variety of settings to include primary and secondary settings
Promote risk reducing advice.
Reducing the risk of infection through education.
Advise and prescribe regarding Skin care
Advise re Exercise
Delivery of Training
Provide learning opportunities for undergraduates and post graduate students.

The Lymphoedema team is a nurse led team which sits within the Community section of the Community and Integrated Care Division of ELHT. In CIC we are proud to serve the community and are leading the way in developing support systems to help patients to remain in their own homes. You will work with Community services such as District Nursing, Lower Limb Vascular Service, Podiatry , ICAT, Bladder and Bowel service and Intensive Home Support Service. There are excellent opportunities to develop clinical skills ,leadership and to participate in quality improvement work and audit.
