Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for you to join our dynamic, patient focused and friendly Urology Outpatient Departments across ELHT. This is an exciting time in our departments as we are developing our services further including expansion. You will be involved in the planning and organisation of this service.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong and compassionate leadership qualities and have a passion for improving the patient experience in addition to having a sound clinical knowledge base. They will possess well developed communication skills that will be used to engage, inspire and motivate both staff and patients in the clinical Outpatient area. Good time management skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise your workload

This post is temporary for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

? Participate in the overall management of the Department in conjunction with the Department manager.

? Ensure that Trust policies, procedures and SOP's are adhered to at department level.

? Deputise for the Department Manager as required.

? Ensure effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team.

? Compile duty rotas for nursing staff with attention to efficient and effective skill mix.

? Be responsible for co-ordinating holiday leave, study leave and training in consulation with lead nurse.

? Contribute to the investigation of complaints from patients, relatives, other staff and members of the public in accordance with Trust policy..

? Act as a resource for other Unit personnel, providing advice, nursing expertise and specialist knowledge as required.

? Participate with the recruitment and selection of staff in liaison with the Department Manager.

? Assist the Department Manager in formulating a programme of appraisal for staff with provision of individualised training and development plan

? Take the lead in education and training of pre and post registered students including preceptorship of newly qualified staff, cadets and Health Care Assistants undertaking NVQ training.

? To take the lead in staff appraisals.

? Participate in the management provision of leadership experience and expertise on the Department.

? Assist to provide a good learning environment

? Actively encourage continuous development of nurses.
