Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to join our Pharmacy Leadership team as the Principal Pharmacist for Aseptic Services. This post leads the strategic and operational oversight necessary in the provision and production of Chemotherapy and Aseptically manufactured items.
This role as the Accountable Pharmacist will work closely with the Lead Technician for aseptic production, the Lead Cancer Pharmacist and the supporting members to provide high quality, timely and safely prepared products to the patients of BHT.
As the expert in aseptic production, the requirements of Annexe 1 / EL (97/52) and safe unit operation will be familiar and you will be invaluable in providing expert advice, guidance and direction on unit operations and ways to meet the capacity challenges that face the NHS
Main duties of the job
Lead Pharmacist Aseptic Service
Act and discharge the duties of Accountable Pharmacist including training of Responsible Pharmacists in aseptic production, product release and safe operational environments
Assure Quality Systems are in place, operating procedures are current for activities undertaken and being followed by Technical and assistant staff.
Work with and Support the Lead Pharmacist for Cancer Services to assure the safe operation and delivery of cancer treatments to the patients of BHT.

- Independent prescriber endorsement and competence in relevant area of practice
- Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPS)
Experience
Essential
- Significant post registration experience as a UK hospital pharmacist or equivalent.
- Managing or deputising for the operation of aseptic production facilities
- Delivery of a pharmacy service to a specialist level in oncology / haematology
- Experience of project management and delivery
- Experience of training of other pharmacy staff and pre-registration pharmacists
- Experience of setting up clinical trials
Desirable
- Delivery of pharmacy services to a range of specialities.
- Work as an Independent Prescriber
- Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
