Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in General Radiology, full time 10 PA's per week position.
This is a a fixed term temporary post for 12 months.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a General Hospital with supra-regional Plastics and Burns Service. The Trust provides acute and specialist hospital services to more than 500,000 people in Mid. and South Buckinghamshire. There are 2 acute hospitals sites at Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville as well as peripheral sites, the largest of which is situated in Amersham. The world-renowned National Spinal Injury Centre is on the Stoke Mandeville Hospital and the Radiology Department provides a wide range of specialist imaging and interventional services to the Unit.
There are ample opportunities for teaching and research. Radiology Registrars from Oxford rotate through the Department, and as of this year, the training of 2 IR Fellows is shared with Oxford.
Qualifications required are full GMC registration and relevant specialist experience.
Many clinical services have recently been reconfigured across the Trust with most acute services being localized at Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe remains the acute site for Cardiology and Hyper Acute Stroke, serving Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
Main duties of the job
The radiology department at BHT is highly regarded within the Trust as an approachable and innovative department. It has consistently achieved the highest score in the Oxford radiology registrars feedback in the past decade in the regional programme.
The department believes in delivering excellence through developing and supporting subspecialty radiologists and delivering access through maintaining and supporting general radiology skills in addition to supporting role extension.
The post is full time (10 programmed activities) for a Specialty Doctor in Radiology. The successful candidate will join a team of 20 consultant radiologists. The post holder will be based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital but will be expected to work on other sites as required.
The post holder would be expected to contribute general duties including to a duty radiology system, hot reporting and cold reporting which combines both special interest and general reporting.
Radiologists undertake ultrasound lists with specialist and some general examinations.
The post holder would be expected to undertake to minor interventional procedures including procedures related to their special interest and those required in particular for urgent in-patients including chest aspiration/drainage, ascites drainage.
