Job summary

Responsible for leading, managing, delivering and developing the clinical pharmacy service to Critical Care.

Looking after our patients is never dull, optimising patient medicines and developing services as part of the critical care team is key.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the planning, development, delivery, and management of clinical pharmacy services across critical care units on all sites.

Provide leadership, supervision, and training to the pharmacy team delivering services to critical care, ensuring the highest standards of practice.

Oversee medicine-related risk management and ensure full compliance with the Trust Medicines Policy and relevant medicines legislation within the critical care units.

Deliver a consistently high standard of pharmaceutical care in alignment with Trust corporate objectives and NHS strategic priorities.

Support the Trust's financial objectives by offering financial analysis and expert advice on medicines management to both the critical care units and the wider Pharmacy Department.

Essential

  • Registered Pharmacist on GPhC register.
  • Master's degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)

Desirable

  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (MRPharmS) or equivalent professional body
  • Post-graduate diploma in clinically-based pharmacy or recognised equivalent
  • Demonstrate professional networking (e.g. member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society or UKCPA)
  • Registered Independent Pharmacist Prescriber

Experience

  • Significant experience of hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
  • Significant experience of delivery of pharmacy services to a broad range of specialties

  • Experience of conducting service audits and the use of performance indicators
  • Experience of teaching and tutoring

Desirable

  • Experience of project management, service implementation or redesign
