Job summary

We are looking to recruit band 3 maternity care assistants who are motivated and enthusiastic about providing high quality care to our patients. You will be working within a supportive multi-disciplinary team with to provide care within our antenatal service.

You will work closely with our antenatal clinic midwives as well as the Anaethetist to support our preop pathway and specialist teams to ensure our patients are well supported throughout the antenatal period.

As a member of our team, you will be professional, safe, and compassionate for women, babies and their families. You will work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team in an environment that is open, supportive, and empowering.

Main duties of the job

The post holder may be required to work anywhere within the Trust. To assist the registered midwife in the delivery of high quality and person - centered care.

To provide support to the Matron and Anaesthetist with Preop clinics for women booked for Elective cesarean sections (ELCS), to include coordinating the preop appointments, providing advice regarding the booked date of ELCS to include liaising with the multidisciplinary team ahead of planned admission.

To carry out maternal observations and undertake a range of activities under direct or indirect supervision by a registered midwife, having been assessed as competent in the activities required. To include venipuncture, MRSA swabbing and when necessary wound care swabbing, referring on to Labour Ward Triage if applicable.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Desirable

  • Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
  • Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)
  • Care Certificate/working towards

  • Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role.

Desirable

  • Experience of providing person centred care
