Job summary

Moving and Handling Practitioners are responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating safe moving and handling procedures for patients and staff. This role involves training and supporting staff in best practices to prevent injuries and ensure the safe movement of our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of ergonomics, risk assessment, and the latest moving and handling techniques as well as a enthusiasm for teaching.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role can be divided into 3 core functions:

Training

The post holder will be expected to deliver high quality and relevant training for all staff, developing training opportunities using technology to improve how we deliver both simulated and digital MH learning resources across Buckinghamshire. The post-holder will be involved in the design, creation and uptake of MH learning resources and educating staff in relation to safe manual handling across all disciplines within both the community, acute and specialist service provision.

Patient Care

The role will support the delivery of high quality, safe patient care in a variety of clinical settings. This includes both giving advice on complex cases, patient safety and equipment, and undertaking patient care visits within their normal residences, involving multidisciplinary working with a variety of both internal and external staff and care givers, liaising directly with patients, their relatives and chosen care givers.

Staff Support

To conduct workplace assessments in conjunction with the Occupational Health and Wellbeing team and departmental managers, in order to assess individuals on their ability to undertake workplace activities as required. This will include a range of audits, investigations, risk assessments, report and recommendation writing to eliminate or reduce MH hazards and risks within the workplace. To ensure the service meets with the required policy and legislative requirements for MH.
