Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding dermatology outreach team in Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust providing an excellent dermatology service to inpatients across all three sites.

This role is a five day a week service Monday - Friday excluding Bank Holidays.

Dermatology experience is desirable but not essential as in house and other training will be given.

The post holder should be a registered nurse who will be managed and trained by the Dermatology Lead Nurse giving the post holder the specialist skills and knowledge to assess and treat patients within their remit. This training will provide the knowledge and skills for the post holder to provide advice and support to in- patients and nursing staff where appropriate.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be trained to be responsible for a defined caseload of patients referred to dermatology and review in-patients, as well as those presenting as emergency attendances as required under the guidance of the outreach lead nurse.
  • The post holder will work closely with other multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that high quality evidence-based patient care is provided

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING eg Education, professional qualifications

Essential

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Relevant post registration course - minimum degree level qualification (e.g. Dermatology course)
  • Advanced History Taking course/ willingness and ability to undertake training within set timetable
  • Mentorship course/ willingness and ability to undertake training to undertake training within set timetable
  • Non-medical prescriber/ willingness and ability to undertake training to undertake training within set timetable
  • Leadership & Management course/ willingness and ability to undertake training to undertake training within set timetable

Desirable

  • Counselling qualification

EXPERIENCE eg Breadth of occupational experience

Essential

  • Post registration experience in Dermatology
  • Experience of autonomous practice and decision making
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Experience of working with complex Dermatology patients
  • Minimum 2 years Band 6 experience - ideally in speciality or related area
  • Experience of using an electronic patient record system

Desirable

  • Evidence of leadership, people management, teaching and supervision of other HCP
  • Experience of clinical teaching
