Job summary
We are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant in the Financial Control Team within Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust.
Financial Control is responsible for co-ordinating effective audit and control processes, working with the Audit Committee and managing key external relationships with auditors and related national bodies. The Team ensure that robust financial accounting, processes and standards are developed and maintained for the Trust.
The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering managerial responsibility for external reporting of the Trust's financial statements and monthly financial returns. This will include taking responsibility for the internal reporting of Balance Sheet and co-ordination of Cash & Capital. Also ensuring that technical and statutory accounting support and advice is provided to other financial accounts staff.
Candidates should therefore be confident in liaising with multiple stakeholders, have excellent communication skills and be able to use their initiative to solve problems and work as a supportive and efficient team member, with a good attention to detail. A flexible, positive, 'can do' attitude is required for this role, as it offers an opportunity to help build and shape the financial control team and the finance processes of the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Managerially responsible for external reporting of the Trust's financial statements and monthly financial returns. Responsible for the internal reporting of Balance Sheet and co-ordination of Cash & Capital. To ensure that technical and statutory accounting support and advice is provided to other financial accounts staff, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial accounts.
The post holder will be expected to have regular contact with other Finance staff, managers and directors within the Trust, staff of all levels from other NHS organisations and external consultants and contractors. They will be expected to communicate complex information to non-finance managers.
