Job summary
The appointee will assist in the provision of elective breast surgery, outpatient clinics, inpatient cover and preparation of the weekly multidisciplinary meeting as well as the oncoplastic MDM. The appointee will have the opportunity to operate independently within their competencies for specific procedures and will be supported by the consultant body to develop further competencies within the field of breast surgery with ample opportunity to be involved in major cases in oncoplastic breast surgery and breast reconstruction. The numberof clinical commitments will depend on service requirements and will span theatre sessions, outpatient clinics (including one-stop, routine follow-up and telephone clinics).
Start date for the post would be the 5th September 2024 (fixed term Specialty Doctor post for 12 months).
MUST hold Full GMC Licence with Practice in the UK

It is located in a state-of-the-art purpose built unit at Wycombe Hospital with co-located imaging and biopsy facilities. The Unit is busy, with approximately 6,000 symptomatic referrals, 20,700 women screened annually and over 500 new breast cancers a year (screening and symptomatic). All elective operating takes place within the dedicated Surgical Treatment Centre at Wycombe Hospital for day surgery and inpatient admissions. We are able to offer a full range of breast procedures including oncoplastic breast conservation and mastectomy with immediate and delayed reconstruction. There is close collaboration with the Plastic Surgery unit and we offer on-site free-flap immediate reconstruction, and jointly operate on complex cases. There are regular breast reconstruction awareness evenings and commencing shortly an oncoplastic MDM.
