Previous experience in evidence-based health interventions is desirable but not essential as all training will be provided.

The Healthy Pregnancy Advisor will provide an evidence based comprehensive service to a diverse group of service users. The post holder will be proactive in identifying clients and settings in which to deliver relevant interventions and work towards achievement of targets on health improvement and reducing inequalities. The post holder will work in partnership with a wide range of individuals and organisations including primary care, Public Health Practitioners and community smoking cessation services.

It is essential for this role that you are fully supportive of the Trust's smoke free policy for our patients and the staff, acting as a smoke free champion throughout your work.

Main duties of the job

Arrange appointments, venues and times in response to client choice.

Deliver one to one support to clients based on their needs, carrying out comprehensive assessments of referred or self-referred clients, and working with the client to plan and develop a programme which will meet the needs of the individual.

All patients admitted to Bucks NHS Trust should have their smoking status and lifestyle choices documented in line with the public health agenda. The post holder will assist clinical teams in recording and updating this information for newly admitted patients and in the process provide healthy pregnancy advice and smoking cessation support.

Staff will be given training and support to help them to signpost people to other services which may improve their health and wellbeing.
