The AI Lab in the NHS England Transformation Directorate is delivering a programme to understand how to facilitate the safe utilisation of AI at scale, and overcoming some of the barriers listed, the AI Lab programme will pilot the NHS Artificial Intelligence Deployment Platform (AI DP) for 18 months.
This pilot will understand if this approach can accelerate the deployment of safe, effective, ethical, and certified AI medical imaging technologies in clinical pathways at scale. The centralised cloud-based platform will act as a pilot for an "AI model store" for the most up-to-date AI imaging models to use for free in participating NHS organisations across England for the duration of the pilot. This approach would also support the continued post-market surveillance of AI model performance.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to monitor interdependencies between TV Rad workstreams and manage these effectively as part of a formal programme reporting to the TV Rad Board, ICS boards and partner boards as required. Duties include:
- The first gatekeeper for filtering AI technology.
- Provide clinical inputs to benefits and local feasibility of AI solution.
- Identifies the AI need and key problems to solve across the sites in the network.
- Act as a clinical tester of the AI solutions and feedback to technical teams.
- Work to demonstrate the clinical impacts and benefits of AI solution.
- To communicate the Thames Valley Imaging Network's focus on quality and outcomes from national through to local level, allowing the local networks to feed ideas and input back to NHS England (as appropriate)
The post holder will ensure Artificial Intelligence activities are aligned to and support clinicians in achieving outcome imaging ambitions for patients and benefits to population health. They will have responsibility for clinical leadership, advice and engagement.
About us
Thames Valley Radiology Network digital team are responsible for the delivery of the National Digital Diagnostic Capability Funding and associated digital workstreams. The Digital team comprises clinical, technical and programme leads from the four Network Trusts. This small team act as subject matter experts and advisors to the Network Board and are key links to the individual trust digital teams and Executives. The Network has a collaborative and innovative digital programme and the time limited AI Deployment Platform project is a key component of this work.
