This job is now closed

Job summary

We would welcome applications from enthusiastic committed learning disability nurses, mental health nurses and children's nurses with proven clinical experience to work in the multidisciplinary team at MacIntyre School and Children's Homes, primarily based in Wingrave, Buckinghamshire. We would also consider adult nurse's with suitable background/experience.

Macintyre School and Children's Homes is a leading independent special school with six residential children's homes, providing specialist 52-week placements, catering to young people aged between 10-19 with severe learning difficulties and complex behavioural needs providing personalised support for these individuals. MacIntyre believes in fostering a supportive environment that empowers young people to overcome barriers to learning and engagement, ultimately enabling them to lead fulfilling lives.

This post would suit an experienced Band 7 nurse (15-22.5 hours per week); however, depending on skill and experience, it is also a developmental opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 5 nurse (up to 30 hours per week) or Band 6 nurse (15-25 hours per week), who is looking for professional development and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and complex behavioural needs.

Main duties of the job

We would welcome applications from nurses who have excellent communication skills and are able to manage their time effectively. An understanding of the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) with severe learning disability, complex behavioural needs, diagnosis such as ASD or ADHD and additional health problems is essential.

This is a part-time permanent special school nurse contract encompassing 52 weeks of the year. You would be working alongside an experienced Band 7 nurse at the school and children's homes, as a member of the multidisciplinary team at MacIntyre and as part of a wider dedicated and enthusiastic team of special school nurses working across the county of Buckinghamshire.

The role will very much involve liaising, facilitating and co-ordinating with the staff teams, families and other agencies in meeting and maintaining the health needs of the children, for example by co-ordinating MDT clinics, providing guidance and advice in relation to behavioural, physical and mental health needs particularly in relation to ASD, ADHD and anxiety, providing training in management of medication and epilepsy management etc. . There is a multidisciplinary team at the school and a real ethos of working together for the benefit of the children, to help them achieve above and beyond expectations.

Full training and support will be given.

An Enhanced DBS will be required for this post.
