An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 5 or current Band 6 to join the Acute Medical team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The team includes a Band 7, three Band 6's, Band 5 and a Band 3. We work closely with Physiotherapists, Discharge Coordinators, Rapid Response in the Community, and the innovative Home First team that undertakes discharge home visits with the care agencies using a Discharge to Assess approach.

This is a very friendly, supportive and dynamic department with integrated individual supervision, appraisal, CPD and monthly in-service training.

Main duties of the job

  • You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team clinically assessing Acute Medical in-patients providing specialist treatment plans and recommendations regarding their ability to be discharged home or requiring some in-patient rehabilitation and liaising with our well established community services available.
  • You will support your team to do the same and lead and develop the most effective model and vision with your dynamic team, supervising and delegating in the absence of your Band 7. You will also identify and develop your own interests to aid your professional development supported and empowered by your Band 7 and Head of Occupational Therapy.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • Current registration with Health Professions Council
  • Diploma /Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio

Desirable

  • Specific formal courses appropriate to post speciality
  • Membership of professional special interest group
  • Field work/clinical educators course

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Experience of a junior rotational Occupational Therapy post in the NHS
  • Experience of a broad rotational scheme including Acute medicine
  • Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
  • Experience of managing own caseload and prioritizing
  • Ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team and contribute to decision making
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, and reflective practice
  • Knowledge and application of evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning
  • Establish and maintain CPD Portfolio

Desirable
