Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust have a vacancy for a Trust LED SPR/ST in General Surgery on a 12-month Fixed Term ContractOn call duties include care of acute surgical patients at Stoke Mandeville. The on-call rota is shared between 10-12 middle grade surgeons. On-call work includes day and night on calls in rotation with colleagues and is mandatory resident. There may be some additional on call cover required but the percentage of time spent in General Surgery.Candidates must have a full GMC registration with Licence to Practice in the UK.

Main duties of the job

The Emergency surgery service covers all General Surgical emergencies at Stoke Mandeville. Led by 4 consultant surgeons who deliver emergency surgical service during the day Mon to Fri. During the weekday mornings, there are 2 Consultant surgeons leading the on call/take/emergency wards/theatres and ambulatory clinic. During the day a further emergency team currently comprises 2 Specialty Trainees or equivalent, 1 Core Trainee, 1 Advanced Care Practitioner and 2-4 FY1's and 2-3 Medical Support Workers. Night cover is provided by 1 Specialty Trainee, 1 RMO at CT level and 1 FY1. All GI consultant surgeons contribute to out of hours and weekend cover.
