Person Specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

• oMB, BS or equivalent GMC registered qualifications
• oCCST/ CCT in Acute or General Internal Medicine, OR Registration on GMC Specialist Register in Acute or General Internal Medicine OR within six months of achieving CCST\CCT at the time of interview
• oCCST\CCT in desired additional specialty
• oHigh Quality skills in general and acute medicine and ability to manage medical takes

Experience

Essential

• oGeneral training in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine to specialist level or equivalent
• oResearch experience\publications
• o3 years WTE minimum at SpR level in GIM\Acute Medicine higher speciality training
• oAbility to make decisions at consultant level

Skills

Essential

• oSufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of consultant.
• oDemonstrates ability to adapt leadership style, drives up standards, delegates appropriately and engages other clinical colleagues
• oDemonstrates understanding and acceptance of organisational priorities and interacts positively with managers, demonstrating financial awareness.
• oDemonstrates inclusivity, takes ownership and manages boundaries appropriately.
• oManagement training and experience
• oProactive about change, seeks out and is open to feedback, reflects on own behaviour
• oAbility to work flexibly and adapt to increasing needs of service
• oAbility to complete tasks
• oGood spoken and written English.
• oCommunication skills should be highly developed. Influences and negotiates effectively, keeps patients and colleagues informed
• oCommunication skills training
• oExperience of teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates, demonstrates the ability to give honest and constructive feedback, creates a supportive learning environment
• oExperience of clinical audit/research
• oProven ability to produce audit/research for presentation at national level
• oFull GMC Registration
• oFull Driving Licence and regular access to a car
