Job summary
We are looking to recruit two Physician Associates to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
This is a permanent post. Initially, the post holder will join our team for 6 months rotation to Gynaecology clinics , theatre and postnatal wards to acquire the additional skills.
On completion of this rotation, the postholder will be assigned to the duties specific for Gynae Oncology and Urogynaecology and form part of the MDT.
There will also be an opportunity to learn advanced clinical skills relevant to rotation, including but not limited to:
- Pessary insertion
- Vulval biopsy
- Coil insertion
- Cervical cautery

The key duties and responsibilities will include:
- To assess and examine patients, order appropriate investigations, interpret results, form a list of differential diagnoses and recommend an appropriate management plan.
- To attend oncology MDT and provide continuity of care for patients on their ward(s).
- To perform PA-led ward rounds in post-natal wards when deemed competent to do so.
- Maintain timely and appropriate documentation.
- Perform procedures subject to appropriate training and experience. These include, but are not limited to:
- Pessary insertion
- Vulval biopsy
- Coil insertion
- Cervical cautery

Essential
- Member of Faculty of Physician Associates including registration (UK Managed Voluntary Register)
- Relevant first BA/BSc degree prior to undertaking PA programme
- PG-Dip/MSc in Physician Associate studies OR MPAS Physician Associate Studies from UK training programme or equivalent
- Current certification of Physician Associate National Exam or National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Evidence of relevant ongoing personal and professional development
Experience

- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
- Experience of conducting clinical audit and quality improvement projects
- Understands how to perform an A-E assessment in the acutely deteriorating patient
- Recognises scope of practice for Physician Associates and current initiatives surrounding progression of the role
- Awareness of current developments and initiatives in cancer care
