Job summary

This is a exciting opportunity to join our Transforming Outpatient department team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

If you enjoy working with a variety of specialties and enjoy the challenge of dealing with a variety of Patients then this is the role for you.

We are seeking an individual who has the drive to work with the department in achieving the vision of Outpatient services as part of the NHS Long term plan.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist with collection of specimens for laboratory analysis and or collect specimens as directed, forwarding to correct location.
  • Act as a chaperone when required to protect the interests of patients and colleagues, and preserve the patient's privacy and dignity.
  • Report Accidents/incidents to nurse in charge and complete appropriate Trust forms.
  • Direct patients to other Wards/Departments as required
  • Has full knowledge of telephone system and pagers.
  • To work independently and without direct supervision using own judgement of urgent matters.
  • To support and mentor new starters, providing support with training and advising as necessary, ensuring work is prioritised correctly and all responsibilities met.
  • Taking accurate and precise messages, prioritising to medical staff or management as appropriate.
