Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a Physician Associate within the ENT Department.

This is a fulltime post and successful post holders can start as soon as possible. This role will work across the hospital sites but predominantly Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospitals.

Joining this expanding team will provide invaluable experience within the Surgery Division supporting the ENT Team.

The successful candidate will be joining a friendly and supportive team of clinical, nursing and admin staff working closely alongside a highly skilled team of allied health care professionals.

You will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking and clinical assessment through to the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. You will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including assessment and diagnostic skills, leading to the delivery of safe care for all patients, and will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to meet the needs of the patients.

Main duties of the job

The department of ENT are pleased to offer an exciting new post for a Physician Associate. This would be a new role within our department. You will join a friendly multidisciplinary team with a passion for patient care and service development. You will be expected to work collaboratively with all members of the surgical and other medical teams within the policies and procedures of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will join the multi-disciplinary staff, under Consultant Supervision in providing comprehensive care for patients in ENT. Your duties will be arranged with the Consultant to whom you are responsible, who has final medical responsibility for all patients under his/her care. Any clinical problems beyond your experience or problems causing anxiety should be referred to the Consultant or a more senior member of your team.

  • PG Diploma or Masters in Physician Associate Studies from a UK training programme (or equivalent)
  • Valid certification of Physician Associate National Exam (can apply if awaiting results of National Exam or due to sit in the near future)
  • Full membership at the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP (or proof of awaiting membership to be finalised)

Desirable

  • Registration with the UK Managed Voluntary Register (FPA MVR or proof awaiting to be finalised)
