Job summary

The Trust is deploying, developing and integrating systems as part of a wider strategy to maximise Information Assets and Digital Development at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT).

This will create opportunities for development of interfaces, software and eForms as well as supporting of interfaces for flow of data from Trust systems and devices.

This is an apprenticeship role, the skills gained on theIT Solutions Technician apprenticeship will give you the relevant skills and an understanding of how businesses use different applications and operating systems for day-to-day activity. You will gain the confidence to support the implementation, maintenance of IT solutions and be able to confidently support fellow employees in using them. The apprenticeship role will involve one day a week study in Milton Keynes.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship will allow you to progress into the role of eForms Developer

Main duties of the job

  • To work with the System Integration Architect/Lead to deliver approved projects, ensuring that milestones are achieved and deadlines are met.
  • To provide regular updates on project progress against plan in line with the departmental and team project management standards and SLAs.
  • Liaises with 3rd party suppliers where necessary to facilitate delivery of a solution or service.
  • To resolve and mitigate issues and risks arising in the interface and system development lifecycle.
  • To assist in the design, build and support optimised relational databases to industry and departmental standards.
  • To provide technical support and call escalation for in-house system interfaces and the technologies used within the Trust. This may mean working with third party support companies to ensure the correct level of support is provided.
  • Using remote access tools, have the ability to detect, diagnose and resolve customer issues to reduce the need to travel to site and subsequently increase efficiency.
  • Provide information to enable customers to solve their own problems if appropriate. At all times, deal with customers and colleagues in a courteous, friendly and professional manner. This may include the diffusing of stressful situations where conflict andunreasonable demands from customers require diplomacy

Essential

  • Valid Driving Licence and use of car, willing to travel as requested
  • There will be a requirement to be working on a Trust site for 2 days per week (1 day Stoke Mandeville, 1 day any Trust site)
  • Must be able to travel to Milton Keynes once a week for apprenticeship study day

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

  • 5 or more GCSE level qualifications including English Mathematics and Computer Science at grade A to C or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a Service/Helpdesk environment providing support to staff.
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS with exposure to Healthcare Systems.

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Ability to document work accurately.
  • Ability to rapidly familiarise self with new or bespoke applications.
  • Ability to organise, plan and work to agreed timescales whilst managing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain logical processes.
  • Excellent problem solving and diagnostic skills, leading to swift resolution of issues and clear decision on next steps.
  • Capable of sustained high quality effort over both short and long periods and the ability to cope with large workloads and working under pressure whilst remaining courteous and professional
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organisation and third party organisations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clearly and legibly in English.
