Applicants are invited to apply for Senior Registrar posts - there are three posts available
Start date 1st August 2023
2 year fixed term contract with potential for extension
The successful candidates will be expected to participate fully in the provision of general services in obstetrics and gynaecology for the population within the catchment area of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital with outpatients and day surgery based at Wycombe Hospital. The post carries a balanced job plan for the appointee. The successful candidate will participate in a two tier, full shift rota (1 in 8) of 16 Registrars/Specialty Doctors/Consultants.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will provide care in specialist outpatient and inpatient services as appropriate in addition to general obstetrics and gynaecology. There are opportunities to develop advanced skills in Gynaecological oncology, minimally invasive gynaecology and fetal medicine. We welcome post CCT candidates who may want to have additional experience in any of these fields prior to taking on a consultant post. This post also offers the opportunity to develop clinical and managerial skills and will support ATSM's and progression with CESR applications as required. The precise nature of the post can be adapted depending upon the requirements of the successful applicant
Main duties of the job
- Appropriate clinical responsibility for the care of patients delegated by the consultant to his/her charge. Co-responsibility for the proper functioning of the department, including supervision of more junior medical staff.
- Running of labour ward with consultant cover on site during the day, consultant off site after hours.
- Clinical duties may be at Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospital sites, with on-call at Stoke Mandeville
- Participation in clinical audit.
- Attendance at clinical meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
- Working within the multidisciplinary team.
- Co-ordinating appropriate medical, surgical and allied disciplines concerned with patient care and communicating appropriately with general practitioners and community agencies.
- Clinic duties such as gynaecology and ante-natal clinics, as well as some specialist clinics. Some gynae clinics are off site.
