Job summary

The Emergency Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital are seeking to recruit two highly committed, enthusiastic Receptionists to join their supportive team. This is an exciting and challenging role within a busy environment, in which the post holder will have an opportunity to make a direct positive impact on patient experience.

The successful candidate(s) must have excellent interpersonal skills, be proactive in their approach with great organisation skills and be able to resolve issues within the department. They will have a focus on teamwork and be able to manager their own workload and priorities. They will be a clear and tactful communicator with the ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of people. They will have a mature attitude with good problem solving abilities and a flexible, can-do approach. The role will involve working with sensitive, confidential information, and the successful candidate will be expected to maintain the Trust's standards and policies at all times.

The role involves working on rotation across 7 days a week covering shift patterns.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive clerical service to the division, you will be responsible for booking in all patients that arrive into our department updating patient health records using the required electronic systems. You will also be required to undertake all the relevant work related tasks including retrieval, preparation and filing of patient information / data, arranging appointments, emailing and processing referrals for patient pathways, and supporting the process in production and sending of GP discharge letters.

You will also update patient information in accordance to the agreed quality standard and support and locate documentation as required, filing and processing documents in the appropriate place.
