Job summary

As Clinical Specialist Podiatrist the post holder will perform specialised assessment, treatment and management of Diabetes patients with highly complex needs, and provide expert advice, guidance and information to other Podiatrists / Podiatry Assistants within the teams, health and social care professionals, carers, relatives and others.

To demonstrate leadership and to contribute to the development of the teams within the Podiatry service regarding all aspects of clinical governance within this specialty.

To be responsible for advancing the post-graduate clinical development of the Podiatrists within the teams and other professionals by means of specialist knowledge, experience, leadership and motivation.

As an expert and autonomous practitioner, to demonstrate a high level of clinical reasoning / diagnostic skills and specialist handling skills to health care professionals across all disciplines, to report on clinical findings and advise on recommended management.

To demonstrate extensive experience in foot wound management in order to provide a seamless service to patients that meet both local and national requirements and standards.

To actively lead development of professional and service initiatives and contribute to organisational objectives, with a specific focus on the management of patients with Diabetes and / or foot wound requirements

Main duties of the job

We are excited to create a new post for a committed self-motivated podiatrist to help develop the podiatry service . The candidate must have excellent organisational skills and can lead the podiatry Diabetes Team in complex patient care within Buckinghamshire.

You must have extensive knowledge treating patients with complex MSK needs and will be required to develop your clinical skills as well as supporting others to develop theirs. This would be via placements or workshops to maintain and advance the staffs knowledge.

You will work with other Podiatry Clinical Leads and have the opportunity to develop your management skills, as well as supporting the Head of Service with the development of new pathways within the Podiatry Service.

The post holder will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as enthusiasm for contributing to the service provided by this Integrated Trust. Our team meets monthly for staff meetings and clinical reasoning sessions and you would be required to take an active part in these sessions.

There will be opportunity to participate in regular nail surgery sessions.
