Job summary
We are looking to recruit four Physician Associates to join the Integrated Medicine team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
This is a permanent post. Initially, the post holder will join our existing pool of Physician Associates to complete a twelve month rotation through Integrated Medicine. On completion of this rotation, the postholder will be involved in the selection of a specialty to be assigned to permanently.
The post will also include regular shifts with the on-call team. This will allow the post-holder to develop their clerking skills and become familiar with a wide range of clinical presentations.
Main duties of the job
There will also be an opportunity to learn advanced clinical skills relevant to rotation, including but not limited to:
- Lumbar puncture.
- Ascitic tap/drain insertion.
- Pleural tap/drain insertion.
- Nerve blocks.
- Fracture reduction.
- Backslab application.
- Joint aspiration or joint injection.
- USS-guided cannulation.
We are hiring to fill four full time posts (1.0 WTE).
The post will initially be Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 or a total of 37.5 hours per week as agreed with the department. Evening shifts may be introduced to meet the department service needs. The post-holder will also be required to work 1:6 weekends with the Acute team (Acute Medical Unit and Short Stay Ward).

- Member of Faculty of Physician Associates including registration (UK Managed Voluntary Register)
- Relevant first BA/BSc degree prior to undertaking Physician Associate programme
- PG-Dip/MSc in Physician Associate studies OR MPAS Physician Associate studies from UK training programme or equivalent
- Current certification of Physician Associate National Exam or National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
